This workshop introduces knitters to the unique and beautiful Rowan yarn. You will be taught how to knit most effectively with Kid Silk Haze, including most suitable cast-on methods, gauge options, applications for using the yarn, knitting with beads and sequins, simple lace stitches, picking-up-and-knitting for frills and edges, knitting frills and decorate cast-offs. This course teaches how to knit with colour and the techniques needed to knit a simple Intarsia and Fairisle design. Learning how to choose the right shades and yarns, how to knit in stripes, sewing in ends, pressing and sewing up. On the day you will choose and knit the colours of your choice to complete with two sample swatches. You will also receive a workshop folder which includes notes and tips for reference.
On the day you will be shown the techniques you'll need to knit toe-up socks and learn how to cast-on for seamless socks (without grafting). We will also look at the concept of knitting a pair of socks at the same time on circular needles. This course covers any problems you may have with knitting on double pointed needles.
This workshop is inspired by Debbie’s 3rd book, More Blankets and Throws to Knit, which offers 12 individual projects using Rowan yarns. Choose to knit a square from the book with textured stitches, cables, intarsia and fairisle, sequins and beads. Learn how to develop your square into a small bag and how to create unique furnishings for the home.
